Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool Court Bayern’s Thomas Muller, Plus Other Planned Moves

Thomas Muller is being tracked by Chelsea and Arsenal ahead of a potential January move, according to the Mirror.

The Bayern Munich man has not been used in a starring role under Carlo Ancelotti and may seek a move ahead of the World Cup if the opportunities fail to provide him with the right form to enter Russia 2018.

Liverpool are also interested in the 28-year-old, who still has four years remaining on his contract.

Muller has not scored yet this season and was dropped in favour of Thiago Alcantara in the role behind Robert Lewandowski last week against Werder Bremen.

Vardy opens door to Leicester exit

A move away from Leicester in the future could be in the cards for Jamie Vardy due to his desire to win more than just one Premier League medal during his career.

The England striker, who helped the Foxes to the 2015-16 title, said he “would look at it [any future offers] and work out the pros and cons” and that turning down Arsenal in 2016 doesn’t mean he “wouldn’t look at another offer.”

Vardy has also discussed a desire to someday play in MLS or the Chinese Super League.

The 30-year-old has three more years on his £100,000-per-week contract, but the Foxes may believe his value will fall after next summer’s World Cup, meaning a sale could be wise.

Juve remain in for Iniesta

Barcelona great Andres Iniesta moved a step closer to leaving the Camp Nou on a free transfer by rejecting claims he is close to signing a new deal.

The Old Lady remains in Beppe Marotta’s “plans,” reports Tuttosport, and could move to Turin on a free transfer in 2018 when his contract expires.

The World Cup winner will be 34 years old by next summer, but the Bianconeri are still keen to add his class.

Iniesta has rejected claims from president Josep Maria Bartomeu that a deal is close, insisting: “It’s not true that we’re close to an agreement on a renewal.”

Spurs to return for Gomes

Tottenham will rekindle their interest in Barcelona’s Andre Gomes in January, but the Star claims West Ham will rival them for the Portuguese midfielder.

The former Valencia star has failed to live up to expectations since joining the Blaugrana and looks as if he may have a peripheral role under Ernesto Valverde.

A key part of the Portuguese set-up, Gomes, like so many players in the coming months, may look to temporarily leave to cement his place in national team manager Fernando Santos’ lineup.

Tap-ins

– Wales sensation Ben Woodburn will be handed a new deal at Liverpool when he turns 18 years old, reports the Mirror.

The teenage striker, who was called in for praise after international duty, scored the winner against Austria during his country’s World Cup qualifiers and the Reds now want to hand him a six-year deal with the prospect.

– Kylian Mbappe has revealed he turned down Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger to sign for boyhood club Paris St Germain.

The 18-year-old France international striker, who was unveiled as a PSG player Wednesday, rebuffed all other interest to return to the French capital.

– Stoke failed in a late bid to sign Yevhen Konoplyanka, the local Sentinel has revealed.

The Ukrainian winger was wanted as a replacement for Mario Arnautovic, who left for West Ham, with the Potters joining Inter Milan, Galatasaray and Lazio in the race to sign him. But a switch in managers has led to the player opting to remain in Germany with Schalke.

“I decided to stay in the squad after seeing Schalke’s new coach Domenico Tedesco,” he said.
